Dr (Gp Capt) Ashish Chauhan, is a Senior Consultant in Interventional Cardiology. He is an aluminus of Armed Forces medical College. Having served on various positions including Cardiologist to the Marshal of Indian Airforce Arjan Singh DFC and to four Chiefs of the Air Staff, he has been awarded Chief of Air Staff Commendation for his contribution. He has worked at various Cardiac Catheterisation laboratories including Army Hospital (R&R), Base Hospital , Delhi Can't, Command hospital Bangalore and Airforce hospital Kanpur.
He is proficient in intervention procedures like Angiography, Angioplasty, Device closure, pacemakers, and heart failure therapy like CRT- D / AICD implantation. He has been a post graduate teacher for MD( Medicine) and DNB ( Medicine) students and is a professor in Medicine. He has been Practicing Internal Medicine since 2004 and has been Head of the department of Medicine at various hospitals of the Armed forces.
By virtue of his tenure at Air Force Central Medical Establishment ( AFCME) , Subroto Park, New Delhi , he has extensive experience in medical evaluation of Civil Aviation ( Class I - initial and renewal). He is an expert and has contributed significantly towards medical evaluation guidelines. He has been instrumental in setting up a Lifestyle diseases treatment and research centre (LDRC) at Airforce Central Medical Establishment ( AFCME), New Delhi. This centre also provides training to Physical fitness trainers for the Indian Airforce. This has given him a unique perspective into management of lifestyle diseases and Sports Physiology.
As a Cardiologist working with post myocardial infarction (heart attack) pilots and young entrants to Indian Airforce, he has done pioneering work on Cardiopulmonary Exercise Testing (CPET) of special use in Recovering Myocardial Infarction ( heart attack ) patients, high performance athletes, Sportspersons or Institutions looking for selecting or developing high aerobic capacity sports.
